Every ten turns, there is a high chance the Earthlings will invade a random planet, and since it takes thousands of turns to build a defence for your planets, your home planet will likely be invaded before you can build a fighter carrier to defend it. Building a planet shield takes hundreds of turns, and supplying it with continuous power is difficult. I've never been able to repel an invasion with a planet shield anyways. Even if you save scum after every invasion, you must still micromanage a fleet of freighters for thousands of turns. It is not a great deal of fun. SAVEFF.GAM contains a new game on easy mode turn 1 that has been given a munificence of most resources in Matros' warehouse, an unusually productive power plant, and uncommonly bright research scientists. Research projects still need to be undertaken, but they will be completed in one turn. Tinkering with the power station will turn it back into a normal power station. Be careful removing A, B, & C from the warehouse, because they can't be put back in. To win, load one of the freighters with a base and a captain, send it to a neutral planet, and plant the base there. Depending on the difficulty level, you can choose any planet, any planet in another star system, or a planet in the Solar system. Complete the research tree, build a spacedock on Matros, build some carriers, and fill them with guys. Fleets with 180 total attack points are enough to conquer all hostile planets except Earth. Earth can be conquered with a fleet of 480 total attack points. Putting yourself on a carrier and flying somewhere changes the top-level menu graphics while in flight. Putting your guy on a fighter carrier and repelling an attack shows an interesting scene. Level 2 ships, level 3 guys and levels 2, 3, & 4 fighters are unlocked by visiting your Apollo colony with your flagship. Visiting your Nitram colony seems to unlock nothing but more places to visit. Visiting your Zeic 9 colony unlocks a new star system. Visiting your Riegulus colony unlocks level 3 ships. The planets in the new star system can both support level 4 mines and never seem to be attacked, making them good places to manufacture all the guys you will need to conquer Earth. Upgrading a power plant and then downgrading back to level 1 seems to make a power plant with high power output, but level 1 fuel requirements. I don't know what probes do. Maybe they tell you enemy ship movements.
